I watched the video by DistroTube where it reviews the Peropesis.
And I second the guy's concern about having ed but not having vi. Please see the time range 05:10 - 07:10 in case you're interested:

What do you think about adding vi?
The author Derek Taylor also suggests that practically no one would use ed these days.

So far, the vi editor has not been needed to develop Peropesis. sed or ed editors was needed, because some programs operate on the basis of these editors. In the future, the vi editor will probably be needed in the same way.

Thanks for clarifying the story behind packaging the text editors.
Umm. Now I think vi is a purely interactive tool. So I guess only exotic software could depend on it (if any).
Fingers crossed anyways to get vi shipped by default.

EDIT: I started using the pkgsrc tool to build software on Peropesis, and probably the first thing I built was VIM.
So this isn't urgent for me. But other VI(M) user might not be so lucky. :)
